OK, so another hour was all to get it to this point. So a total of 12 hours now and I think I'm getting the hang of it.
I thought this was a fun was to look at the progress.
As you can see I picked a skin tone for the background. I put that on one layer and locked it.
Then I did the sketch on another layer and locked it.
The left eye has something like 9 layers, the right has 5 or 6. The nose, lips, and face all have a couple of layers. I'm sure I'll do more work on the face, but next I'll move on to the ear, then jaw and neck. And then it'll be really fun doing the fur and her hair (yikes, someone save me!!!!)
Thanks for watching...for those who don't know, this is my second digital painting...I typically work in graphite or colored pencils - I've never even done a real painting, so this is a double learning experience for me.
I am using a Wacom Intuos3 4x6 tablet, Photoshop Elements 4 (Mac OS X) and primarily use soft round brushed and vary the size and opacity to suit my needs.
12 whole hours?! ahhhhhh you deserve a cookie...*hands you a cookie* that'll be $2.17.
I love how it's like a real face, surrounded with the drawing stuff, like it's coming to life...well now I'm reminded of Frankenstein and am frightened. You sick freak.
