Here are some of my favorite tutorials on realistic drawing!
Journal Tips
=imaginee Linda Huber, aka, imaginee, has created some of my favorite pencil art on dA. Check out her journal for some fantastic tips on drawing!
~aramismarron Jose Carlos G. Mendozo is another incredibly talented pencil artist on dA. Although I'm not a fan of Christina, you can't deny that he has created some amazing portraits of her and others. His journal also has some great tips on drawing you should check out!
Video Hair Tutorials
~pat-mcmichael Pat McMichael has a way of making portraits that are all his own. While they look like the person he is drawing, you also know immediately that it is a Pat McMichael drawing.
He has a couple of videos that are extremely helpful:

very nice and helpful^^ there is also a very good book that helped me alot called "How to Draw Life-Like Portraaits From Photographs" BY Lee Hammond...it's worth every penny^^
Devious Comments
But yeah, you're right, Nicolien's tutorials are REALLY good, they are well worth a professional drawing book.

I know that we are worlds apart
so all I can offer to you are words
honest ones, words from my heart
to close the gap between our worlds
